What Is Alpha?

We believe that everyone should have the chance to explore faith, ask questions and share their point of view. Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that freely explore the big questions in life through the basics of the Christian faith.

The course runs over 10 weeks - everyone’s welcome and there’s no pressure or charge. Each session takes place at the same venue where you’ll meet other people with questions just like yours.

Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for anyone who's curious. The talks are designed to encourage conversation in a friendly, open and informal environment. No question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish.

Alpha has been running all over the world for the last couple of decades in churches, pubs, prisons & homes where nearly 30 million people have taken part and loved the experience. There are three key aspects that make up an Alpha session:

Connect

Connecting with others is important. At Alpha, we start with a meal together to give people the opportunity to connect with people they might not come across in their day to day lives. This gives space for conversations to start with people that might have different perspectives and life experiences as you, making it a great time to listen and learn in friendship.

Watch

The Alpha talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Each one is around thirty minutes long and given by a speaker live or played as a video. They explore important issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions from Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith? to Why and how do I pray? and How does God guide us?

Discuss

One of the most important parts of any Alpha is the chance to share thoughts and ideas in small groups. There’s no obligation to say anything and there’s nothing you can’t share (seriously). It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.

When?

Our next Alpha course will start on the 17th of January.

Come along to the church for 7:30pm, where you’ll be greeted and offered food, followed by the video starting at 8pm and the discussion time after that. We would love to see you there!
